Eric Bullard (DMSB ’27) is a third year student who completed a Dialogue of Civilization in Barcelona, Spain. Eric’s experience gave him the chance to explore a new country and culture while making connections with other Northeastern students.

“As a third-year at Northeastern, I have already experienced many things I never would’ve dreamt of just a few years ago.
To start, the summer after my freshman year, I participated in the “Dialogue of Civilizations: Barcelona: Art, Architecture and Photography in Spain” program. This 6-week experience gave me the chance to explore new passions and interests, create lifelong connections with the other participants, and travel abroad for the first time in my life. I reminisce about this opportunity often and would do anything to experience it again.
I was able to put this Dialogue on my resume and LinkedIn, and it became a fun and informative speaking point in many of my interviews. I am convinced it gave me that extra boost in personality and global experience I needed to land my first Co-Op at Fidelity Investments. Even now, as I apply for my second Co-Op, I still leverage it in interviews and conversations with employers.
For my final two years here at Northeastern, I plan to take advantage of the many opportunities the Honors Program offers. I recently applied to the Honors Enrichment Travel Award, a newly piloted travel grant that covers costs for students to attend academically and professionally advancing domestic conferences. I applied to the International Conference on Mathematics and Statistics, which I hope to attend this coming December. I also plan to use my global bank account balance to venture on a semester in Australia during Fall 2026. I highly recommend Honors students take full advantage of all the amazing funds, opportunities, and learning experiences that are offered.”
What other activities are you involved in on campus?
On campus, I am involved in many different activities. On the academic side, I am a member of Bull & Bear Research, where I sit on the Technology Sector team. I also participate in two work-study research opportunities, working alongside professors Yakov Bart and Laura Kuhl. I am also a member of the Men’s Rugby team, where I have played in games across the East Coast and beyond against teams such as Brown, Buffalo, Boston College, Yale, and many others. Finally, I am a part of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, where I have created lifelong friendships and memories thus far.
What is your favorite Northeastern memory?
My favorite Northeastern memory so far would have to be beating UMass Amherst, a top 5 team in the country at the time, at their home field. The feeling of representing Northeastern, beating a highly ranked rival, and celebrating with my teammates is something I will never forget.
What events or activities would you recommend to new Honors students?
I would recommend all Honors events to new students. It’s a great way to get involved, explore new opportunities, and meet amazing peers and mentors on campus. The weekly Honors Happenings newsletters are a great way to stay up to date on these activities. Besides that, make sure to attend Fall-Fest, club fairs, and any other events where you can find your fit within organizations and clubs at Northeastern.
