Experiential Education that Pushes Boundaries.

The Reimagined Program encompasses the requirements for all students who joined the John Martinson Honors Program in Fall 2023 or later. Students who joined Honors prior Fall 2023 or later are enrolled in the Legacy Program.

This page is intended for Internal Admits, being students who were admitted to Honors after enrolling at Northeastern.

Honors Impact

During their first year in the Honors Program, students will be required to engage in three distinct learning experiences that will support them to grow in their role as impact agents in their communities, both within and outside of Northeastern University.

Honors students who successfully complete these three learning experiences will receive a digital credential, the Honors Impact badge, and access to a wide variety of Honors opportunities throughout the remainder of their time at Northeastern University.

Honors Impact Badge Requirements

Honors Discovery Studio

The Honors Discovery Studio is a 0-credit course taken by Internal Admits during their first-semester in Honors. This course is held in the evenings to accommodate students on co-op.

Students will not need to register for this course through the Registrar. Course assignments are handled by the Honors team leading up to the semester.

Students begin learning the skills to make an impact on their community and are introduced to Honors opportunities.

Community Experiences Requirement

To receive credit for this requirement, Internal Admit students must participate in at least 3 group outings. Group outings are held during a student’s first semester in Honors.

Students who are unable to attend events due to conflicts are encouraged to contact their and to attend any make-up events available during that semester.

Note on Additional Learning

This Self-Directed Learning must be completed during a student’s first year in Honors.

Courses required for Honors Distinction cannot be used to satisfy this requirement.

Please note that for Internal Admit students, the completion of this requirement may require the use of an elective slot.

In your consideration of joining Honors and/or earning the Honors Impact badge, our team encourages students to plan ahead to ensure they will be able to complete this requirement.

Honors GPA Requirement

Members of the Honors Program are expected to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 during their undergraduate term.

If a student’s grades drop beneath this threshold, they are placed on Honors Probation and will be at risk of being removed from the John Martinson Honors Program.

If you are experiencing academic issues or difficulties, we encourage you to contact your Academic and Honors Advisors for assistance.
