Pursue Global Projects in Honors.
Students in the John Martinson Honors Program have the ability to enroll in a Self-Directed Global Experience, an exclusive course experience in which a student can pursue an Honors Directed Study abroad.
Course Details
The Self-Directed Global Experience can be taken as one of the following course options:
HONR 2992 (0 Credits)
- Non-credit bearing course.
- This option is best for students who do not want to pay for credit hours but would still like to get involved in research and creative endeavors.
HONR 4992 (1-4 Credits)
- Credit bearing course.
- Provides the possibility of fulfilling an upper-class elective.

Required Forms
Once students have determined their area of interest and a potential faculty member, they will need to submit an Honors Self-Directed Global Experience Form.
Please reach out to your Honors advisor with questions or to get started on the process of project approval and registration.
Students should consult Global Safety and Support (GSSAC) to determine if their proposal involves travel to a High-Risk Country. All travel for Self-Directed Global Experiences will need to adhere to university travel guidelines.
IRB Approval
Students working with human subjects in their research should consult the Department of Human Research to determine if IRB approval is required for their project and, if necessary, provide appropriate documentation signifying approval.
IACUC Approval
Students working with vertebrate animals should provide appropriate documentation signifying IACUC approval.
