The Honors Interdisciplinary Thesis is a capstone-style course that allows students to complete a project under the mentorship of at least two faculty members from distinct disciplines.
Course Details
The Honors Interdisciplinary Seminar (HONR 4997) is a 4 credit-hour course conducted under the mentorship of at least two faculty from distinct disciplines.
The final product can either be a written thesis or a creative interdisciplinary work that demonstrates mastery of a specific artistic skill.
This unique opportunity is limited to students in at least their third year of study.

Required Forms
Students who are interested in enrolling in HONR 4997 must submit the following in their proposal:
- One or more letter(s) of support from your faculty advisor(s)
- Itemized budget proposal and/or evidence of external funding
- Resume
- Unofficial Northeastern University transcript
Proposals are reviewed by faculty in the relevant disciplines and Honors leadership. Students whose proposals are approved will register for HONR 4997 and will showcase their work at RISE and other professional and academic venues.
IRB Approval
Students working with human subjects in their research should consult the Department of Human Research to determine if IRB approval is required for their project and, if necessary, provide appropriate documentation signifying approval.
IACUC Approval
Students working with vertebrate animals should provide appropriate documentation signifying IACUC approval.
