The Reimagined Program encompasses the requirements for all students who joined the John Martinson Honors Program in Fall 2023 or later. Students who joined Honors prior Fall 2023 or later are enrolled in the Legacy Program.
This page is intended for First-Year / Direct Admits, being students who were admitted to Honors prior to enrolling at Northeastern.
Honors Impact
During their first year in the Honors Program, students will be required to engage in three distinct learning experiences that will support them to grow in their role as impact agents in their communities, both within and outside of Northeastern University.
Honors students who successfully complete these three learning experiences will receive a digital credential, the Honors Impact badge, and access to a wide variety of Honors opportunities throughout the remainder of their time at Northeastern University.
Honors Impact Badge Requirements
Honors Discovery (HONR 1102)
Honors Discovery (HONR 1102) is a 1-credit course taken by Honors students in the Fall of their First Year.
Students will need to register for this course through the Registrar as they enter Northeastern.
Students begin learning the skills to make an impact on their community and are introduced to Honors opportunities.
LLC Participation Requirement
To receive credit for participation in an Honors Living Learning Community (LLC), Honors students are expected to attend their group’s Launch Event and at least one learning event per semester.
Students who are unable to attend events due to conflicts are encouraged to contact their LLC Coordinator and to attend any make-up events available during that semester.
Note on Additional Learning
This Self-Directed Learning must be completed during a student’s first year in Honors.
Courses required for Honors Distinction cannot be used to satisfy this requirement.
Honors GPA Requirement
Members of the Honors Program are expected to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 during their undergraduate term.
If a student’s grades drop beneath this threshold, they are placed on Honors Probation and will be at risk of being removed from the John Martinson Honors Program.

Honors Distinction
Honors Distinction is an optional pathway that represents a student’s exceptional dedication to academic and global engagement.
Global Opportunities
Honors students have the ability to pursue and participate in the wide variety of global / mobility opportunities available through Northeastern University’s travel catalogue.
Project Opportunities
Students in the John Martinson Honors Program have many ways to get involved in creative and research projects during their studies.
Student Leadership
Honors offers a suite of student leadership groups that provide undergraduates the ability to connect with and support the Honors community.
Honors Upperclass Housing
Upperclass Honors students may choose to continue living in Northeastern residence halls that offer dedicated housing to Honors students, including East Village and West Village C.
